Your Writing Isn’t Perfect — But It Does Not Matter!
When you write regularly on Medium you inevitably have to accept that some articles will be better than others. Not every article is a masterpiece, and perhaps we shouldn’t think it has to be.
This gives us the freedom to focus on what’s really important. It’s about publishing new ideas. That’s what’s important. Not writing a nice looking article that resonates well with people.
Some new ideas might repell readers. So be it.
Every day more articles are written by people all around the world and it is very unlikely that our article will reach exactly the reader we want to reach. Therefore, it is best to write for ourselves.
Therefore, we need to write regularly.
Every new article gives a chance to be discovered — and so do our other articles that we have written. But who takes the time to read all our ramblings?
Who will take the time today?
Someone will read it eventually. And someone will find it useful. But please don’t let us decide that in advance. Let the reader decide.
We are not here because we want to write highly philosophical works that nobody understands. I have already done this to prove to myself that I can do it. But did anyone read it thoroughly?
No. It was just too complicated…
I have written technical documentation, scientific papers, simple guidebooks, and much more. Who will read it all? Someone will read it eventually. Who is this someone and will we find this person on Medium.com?
What we write is not perfect. It never has been. It never will be. It’s always an opportunity for change. It’s our way of communicating our ideas. That may go down well with some people.
…with others, maybe not so much.
But what is really relevant if you had fun writing it?
Therefore, write every day and write whatever you want.
