Introduction
The average internet user doesn’t care what you’ve been up to all day, but they do if you’ve learned something from it. But this knowledge has to be of use to other people, so you have to wrap it up nicely in a story.
But the story should not be long or digress.
There doesn’t have to be a story at all…
What’s important is having a lesson.
That lesson can come at the very beginning. That is what I have learnt. These are my experiences. And here I would like to show why this is important.
What motivates the reader to read on if he already has the lesson?
Another lesson from the lesson?
The reader needs suggestions for action so that they can see a practical benefit from the lesson.
Obvious lessons are entertaining.
Lemons are really sour. They only get sweet from a Miracle Berry. By an obvious fact, I have persuaded the reader to read the next sentence.
He is curious to see what comes next, because he is actually very sceptical. After such an obvious piece of information, he wants to be surprised.
That happened in the sentence after that.
And there we have the beginning…
Don’t put the hook in the headline.
If it’s about the Miracle Berry, don’t put the info that this fruit makes everything sweet in the headline. if you do, you’ve given away the punchline before you tell the story.
Maybe you want a nonsense headline?
Not the 7 keys to wisdom or the 5 best practices for SEO.
Such headlines are only good for marketers and people who want to look particularly smart. They want to present themselves to show how much they know.
Show, don’t tell (or something…)
So far we did not even start telling others about our day but we have already written quite a lot. So how can we make people interested in what we have to say? The answer will surprise you.
We do not try to manipulate them into listening to us because that does not work. Well, why are we interested in what we have to say?
Why do we want to share?
This motivation is the crucial point to tell an amazing story without even thinking about it.
Of course, you can never make anyone fascinated about something you are not fascinated with. But how can you build up fascination without driving them away when you start telling them about your interests?
Connect it with something they already care about!
Okay, what’s your point?
You are still reading which is quite good. Please bear (rrroar!) with me until I will finally propose the ultimate way to get other people’s attention.
Are you ready?
No, it’s not a simple thing that I could compress in a single sentence — but I would like to. Being sceptical is one thing and being impatient is another.
Readers are skimming articles.
They look for lists, quotes, an image maybe, something to spark their interest. They want to read their article but first they need to be sure they are not wasting their time.
They do not trust you enough (yet) and that is why they will not just read your article from start to finish, but first scroll down and look at likes or claps. How many did you receive?
That’s called social proof.
Still not convinced, they go back and they look for an entry point after they have seen how long your article is. It’s so much text and people are tired. They look for the hook but they cannot find it.
What are they going to do?
What do you think?
What to Write About?
Your interesting life — compressed
You wake up, go to work, eat, drink, shit, meet some friends and spend some time wondering what your life could be like if it were at least interesting enough to write about.
Do not wait…
First of all, we believe that we have to live an epic life, with exactly all the drama and conflict that happens in the movies we watch regularly. We believe that we have to do many things and always do our best to become “the best version” of ourselves.
Write regularly
What it means to you to live an epic life depends on you. Sometimes eating a slice of bread (when you almost choked on it) can be epic. In any case, what is always interesting is when you tell how you managed to write articles regularly when you work during the day and study in the evening.
Enjoy the way
We have learned to set goals and live productive effective lives because we have been told that these are the things that make us happy. We want to achieve something that doesn’t exist. A concept of satisfaction that only comes once we have done all these or those things. You don’t become happier because you achieve something.
Conclusion
If you do daily what you find fulfillment in,
then you have achieved everything
that can be achieved.
And that is definitely worth writing about.
