Let people think for themselves

You are not infallible…

Telling other people how to live their lives is simply inappropriate. By doing so, you take away the arrogance of saying that you know better. If, in one of the most unlikely cases, you really do know something better than other people, they will approach you. Never impose yourself and your theories.

Don’t you think they’ve heard what you’re saying somewhere else? Or do you have anything new to give them?

It’s okay if you come up with new information, and say:

Hey, here’s what I heard.
What do you think about this?

That’s it. After that, you hear what they think. After that, you keep looking. But don’t try to be clever, to propagate everything you hear as “the pure truth”, and to try to convert other people! Nobody likes to be taught. But to learn, we all want. But for that you have to be open.

That means, should you ever, in one of the most unlikely cases, actually be an expert in virology (or whatever topic), make that clear — but let go. They will, if they want to hear it from you, come at you. That’s the way it is with people. No one wants to be taught WITHOUT being ASKED. But if they are open and want to learn, they will come forward.

And when you have enough to tell, you can write a book. Then you give them the freedom to read it. That’s what I did, for example. With some topics. But I don’t force myself on anyone, I don’t tell them that they should read my books.

But now and then someone comes to me and asks me something, to which one of my books provides the answer. They then read that if they want to. I can thus spread my information and others can then read it. But it is always up to them whether they want to. I do not impose myself.

And that’s how it should be.

tl;dr: Don’t impose.
Let people think for themselves, even if (you think) that you know better.
