How Can Students Be THAT Stupid?

If you let ChatGPT write your paper, at least change some bits…

The headline says it all…

I recently came across this article written by Douglas Rushkoff:

Introduction

In this article, the author had to grade a text of one of his students that, that, apparently, was written by ChatGPT. While language models like ChatGPT can be useful for certain tasks, they are not yet advanced enough to replace human writers for more complex or nuanced writing.

You can see if a text is written by ChatGPT or by a human!

And that is exactly why it is important to use ChatGPT only as a tool, not a replacement for your writing. It can give you summaries and overviews, but it’s not here to do your work.

But this is what his student did…!

Review your text

The quality of the output will depend on how it is used and the input it receives. It is important to carefully review and edit any text generated by the model before it is used in a final product.

This way you can make sure it is not recognized as AI text.

The ChatGPT model has been trained on a large dataset of text and has a wide range of knowledge which allows it to generate sophisticated and complex text. However, it may not have the same level of understanding and context as a human writer, which can lead to inaccuracies or oversights in the text.

It’s also that AI texts sounds / read the same way.

ChatGPT does not replace you…

ChatGPT is a powerful language model that can generate text that is coherent and grammatically correct, but it’s not here to write your book, or paper, or both.

It’s not a good idea to use it as a replacement of yourself!

But how can you use it?

Let’s clarify…

ChatGPT 101 • for Academics:

How to use ChatGPT (without getting detected):

  • Create only the outline of a research paper with ChatGPT. Fill it with your own ideas.
  • Create summaries of texts you want to insert into your paper. Write “around” them.
  • Rewrite everything you get from ChatGPT in your own words.
  • Add variety. Like this. It’s very simple. After all, a human shall read it and it shall read as if a human has written it.

How NOT to use ChatGPT:

  • Write your paper from start to finish.

Hope this helps anyone considering ChatGPT for their books, papers, articles, etc.
