When it comes to money, many of us grow up believing certain myths that shape our lives and decisions.

We often hear that having more money will bring happiness, freedom, and time — three things most people desire deeply. However, these assumptions can be misleading.

While money is undeniably important, especially in avoiding financial stress, it is not the magic key to all of life’s most valuable experiences. True happiness, freedom, and the ability to make the most of your time are influenced by factors far beyond your bank account.

Let’s debunk three common myths about money and explore the deeper truths behind them.

1. MYTH: Money will make you happy

Happiness is a state of mind.

Not having enough money will make you miserable, but it is only one of many factors. Not being loved will make you feel miserable too. The question is: What really makes you happy?

The absence of misery is a prerequisite to be happy, but it is not happiness.

2. MYTH: Money will give you freedom

Freedom is a state of mind.

Nobody can enslave you unless you let them. There are people earning six figures being “trapped” in their company or job. What is freedom?

You define it.

3. MYTH: Money will give you more time

You can always make more money but you can never make more time, not even with more money.

You work harder today so you will have more time tomorrow? But tomorrow, there won’t be good weather, your parents might be dead and your son already moved out and does not want to see you because you spent all the last 10 years working.

Time today is not the same as the time tomorrow.
